The Kiwanis Club of Astoria-Long Island City held its annual award ceremony on October 3 at Riccardo’s by the Bridge. Three members of the community were honored for their civic contributions. CEO of Pistilli Realty Group and Co-CEO of First Central Savings Bank Joseph Pistilli received the Kiwanis Person of the Year Award. Sonya Mylonas of Cats Eye Webs received the Woman of the Year and former manager of Community Board 1 George Delis was honored as Community Person of the Year. Each of the honorees were also given citations on behalf of Congressmember Carolyn Maloney. “I have lived on many different continents and I have never experienced the sense of community that I’ve seen here in Astoria,” said Mylonas.
