Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas and Maria L. Delgado hosted their sixth annual Pajama Party in Astoria, at The Astor Room. The party, sponsored by The Astor Room, Kaufman Astoria Studios, and Give Me Astoria, benefited the Pajama Program, a non-profit organization that provides warm pajamas and books for children in need. In total, more than 645 new pairs of pajamas and books were donated. The event attracted more than 100 guests to support the children of The Pajama Program while enjoying a festive atmosphere, delicious food, artisanal cocktails, and a live jazz band. The Astor Room’s celebrated Executive Chef Nathaniel Felder prepared the buffet and the Cheeky Chipmunk provided free face painting for the children. Numerous local businesses donated prizes for a raffle, the proceeds of which were donated to The Pajama Program. Give Me Astoria offered free giveaways to those in attendance.
“A bedtime story and a new pair of pajamas are simple things that can bring enormous happiness to a child,” said Simotas. “Every year, I look forward to supporting the Pajama Program and helping them bring joy to children who would otherwise go without.”
